Peukkula, Jyväskylä

The Lillijuna Sightseeing Train takes the family for a scenic ride around the city of Jyväskylä. The friendly toot-toot invites you to climb on board from the pedestrian street or from the city harbour.

The Stone Age Village in Saarijärvi offers you a hands-on experience of what life was like for our ancestors. The village is an archaeological reconstruction complete with huts, campfires, canoes, nets and harpoons, and visitors can try out paddling on an Stone Age style dugout canoe or manufacturing Stone Age type artefacts.

Events for children
Lasten Loiskis Festival is an annual event arranged in the Jyväskylä region every October, featuring concerts, dance and theatre performances, magic shows and other types of fun for the whole family. For details, contact the Jyväskylä Region Tourist Office
The annual Jyväskylän Kesä festival in July takes over the whole city and has a great deal of children and family oriented programme. The last day of the event is always dedicated to children. Activities and performances in the last years have included a circus school/workshop, parkour school, music theatre, puppet theatre, and clownery.
Kihveli Soikoon skiffle music festival in Hankasalmi has special workshops where children build their own instruments and learn to play them together.
