Nanotechnology - top research and business

Nanoscience and nanotechnology are one of the latest strategic development points of Central Finland's business and research activities. Nanotechnology aims to find applications that combine physics, chemistry and biology and is expected to quickly develop within the next 5–15 years and to have an impact on almost all business fields.

Nationally Central Finland and the City of Jyväskylä is regarded as a highly diverse center of multidisciplinary nanoscience know-how. Businesses have an excellent opportunity to take advantage of high quality local expertise. Nanotechnology and research thrive in the Nanoscience Center (NSC) at the University of Jyväskylä. The University of Jyväskylä already possesses the expertise of almost 100 researchers and professors and the objective is to double this number by the end of 2006.

Nano forum Jyväskylä is a regional informal society of world class business and research. It is a meeting forum for the companies of all sizes, the universities, the research institutions and the developers offering their know-how, conducting common R&D projects, and commercializing new applications. Several new companies have been commenced and new solutions in existing enteprises have been adopted.
